Everyday shopping is closer than either — the Powdersville corridor along SC-153 has filled in with grocery stores, restaurants and services. Students are served by Greenville County Schools; because Piedmont addresses fall on both sides of the county line, it is worth confirming the attendance zone for a specific street with the district.

Weekends here tend to end up on the water. The Saluda River runs the length of the town, and Dolly Cooper Park a few minutes away carries eight lighted pickleball courts, disc golf, athletic fields, a fenced playground and river access, linked downstream to Piedmont Riverfront Park by the Saluda River Blueway.
