Alta Vista Homes for Sale in Greenville, SC

Alta Vista is one of the older residential quarters of Greenville, spread across Crescent Avenue, Lanneau Drive, McDaniel Avenue, Longview Terrace, Byrd Boulevard and the streets running off Cleveland Street toward Cleveland Park. Most of it went up from the 1920s through the 1940s — Craftsman bungalows, Cape Cods and center-hall traditionals on quarter- and half-acre lots, many with the original hardwoods and a detached single garage set back off the street.

What it feels like

Sidewalks and street lights run through most of the neighborhood, which is rarer in Greenville than buyers expect and is a large part of why people walk here. Lots carry mature hardwoods, several have full-yard irrigation added since, and the whole area drains onto public water and sewer. Augusta Road shops and Cleveland Park are both within walking distance, and downtown Main Street is a few minutes north.

Schools

Augusta Circle Elementary, Hughes Academy and Greenville High School serve much of this area, all Greenville County Schools. Augusta Circle is the 1923 three-story brick building on Winyah Street, expanded in 2002.

It draws buyers who want an older house with real architecture inside the city rather than a new one on the edge of it. If a porch and a short walk to the park matter more than square footage, this is the part of town to look. Nearby Chanticleer offers the same side of Greenville on larger, gated ground.
