Townhomes for Sale in Greenville, SC
Townhomes are how Greenville solves the problem of wanting to live close to the middle of the city without inheriting a yard. Most of the attached housing here is clustered where land is tightest and most valuable — the West End, the Village of West Greenville, the North Main and Stone Avenue corridor, and the blocks around Unity Park — which is exactly where a detached house with a lawn stopped being practical to build.
Where they are
- The Village of West Greenville — The Kitson on Pendleton Street and Canvas Townes sit inside the arts district, walking distance to the galleries and restaurants
- North Main and Stone Avenue — One21 Townhomes at the top of downtown
- The Unity Park corridor — Unity Village and Solaire, both near the Swamp Rabbit Trail
- Inside the city, off the main corridors — Biltmore Walk and Mcneil Court, quieter streets a short drive from downtown and the hospital district
Who buys them
Three groups, mostly. First-time buyers, because a townhome is usually the way into a walkable part of Greenville rather than a subdivision out past the interstate. People downsizing, who want a full house on two or three levels but are finished with mowing and gutters. And buyers who travel or keep a second place here, for whom locking the door and leaving is the entire point.
What to look at closely
Two things separate one Greenville townhome from another more than the finishes do. The first is what the association actually covers — some handle the exterior, the roof and the landscaping, others far less. The second is parking, which varies enormously this close to downtown: a garage is common in the newer communities and rare in the older ones, and it changes daily life more than most buyers expect.
If you want the same low-maintenance arrangement in a flat rather than a multi-level unit, the Greenville condo market covers that ground, and new construction across the city includes several attached communities still being built.
