The lake runs 540 acres and is managed by the Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission, which keeps a park on the far shore with a public boat ramp, fishing pier, playground and picnic shelters, open sunrise to sunset. The neighborhood itself has a clubhouse, common areas, a playground and its own dock and ramp.

The houses

Construction came in waves rather than all at once, so a recent Craftsman on a slab can sit a few doors from an older traditional home with a full basement worked into the slope. Before you buy for the water

Lake Rabon is a managed lake, not an open one. Every watercraft needs a Lake Rabon permit, motors are capped at 15 horsepower with pontoons allowed 30, and boats are limited to 25 feet. Frontage on a plat is also not the same thing as permitted dock access, so ask what a specific lot actually conveys.

Schools and roads

This end of the county feeds Hickory Tavern Elementary and Middle, then Laurens District High School, all Laurens County School District 55. County roads run back into Laurens in a few minutes, where I-385 heads north toward Simpsonville and the Greenville suburbs.
